Pointing the Spotlight at Bands, Musicians, Venues and more.

These are Joe’s music spotlight features — the bands, musicians, and venues that deserve more ears than they’re getting. Some are local legends who never quite got their due outside Niagara. Others are household names getting a fresh look through a different lens.
A lot of what lands here comes from right in my own backyard. Acts like The Ned Green Show and LMT Connection built real followings on Niagara stages for years, and they deserve to be remembered properly, not just as a footnote in someone’s set-list history. Same goes for the venues and studios — the rooms and the people behind the scenes who keep the local scene running.
But the spotlight isn’t limited to hometown talent. Sometimes it lands on a legend like Joe Cocker or Talking Heads — artists everyone’s heard of, but whose full story is worth revisiting anyway. Other times it’s a conversation, like sitting down with Rick Laroche on Rock Talk With Rick, that gives a different angle on the music world most people never see.
There’s no strict formula for what earns a spot here. If it’s a story I think deserves more attention — whether that’s a forgotten local act, a touring guitarist, or a band that shaped a sound — it belongs in the spotlight.
New features get added regularly, so if you’re curious about the artists and venues that make Niagara’s music scene tick — or the bigger names whose stories deserve a second look — this is the place to keep coming back to.

That mix is intentional. Music doesn’t happen in a vacuum — a local band playing a Tuesday night residency and a legend who filled stadiums both deserve a fair shake if the story’s good enough. I’d rather cover fifty different corners of the music world honestly than pretend there’s only one kind of act worth writing about.
