Welcome Steve Obrien
It gives me great pleasure to announce the addition of a new member to our team.
Please Welcome Steve Obrien in his new role as a Reviewer for Joe’s Place.
Steve will be posting reviews of Bands, Musicians, Concerts, Festivals, New Releases, Videos, Venues and all things music, we determine to be of interest to our readers.
Hailing from the Niagara area, Steve has indulged in his passion for music from a very young age.
“Like so many others, the Beatles hit me like a freight train …and from that point on my immense love of music knew no bounds “
At the behest of his father, Steve took up the guitar at age eight, winning some local guitar competitions while performing in ensembles.
Spurred on by influences such as Jeff Beck, Al Dimeola and Ritchie Blackmore, he became fully entrenched in the local music scene and earned respect as an ‘A’ list player . This brought him to a love of the drums , which he pursued with the same unshakeable vigor.
“ On both instruments, I was always trying to obtain that “next level”…not content to rest easy on past accomplishments…some were born with talent….me…I had to work at it!”.
While performing in and out of the area he enjoyed success with various bands such as Rust Never Sleeps, James Doolin and the Mob, The Parkside Jazz Band, and the multi award winning “Oracle”.
As his passions diversified, he became more and more involved in the local music community…teaching, hosting musical events, and organizing multiple attendee trips to various shows throughout the greater Toronto area .
Nice. Just seen this on my FB and am a singer and doing open mics and rebuilding my band and solo shows. Can’t wait to submit thank you for the opportunity. Just getting around the GTA these days and down by lake having fun winging it with everyone on the fly
Welcome Steve, look forward to reading some of your articles! 🙂
