An Assortment Of Joe’s Blues and Jazz Favorite All Things Music

This is where I round up the blues and jazz favorites I can’t stop playing — the artists, albums, and live sets that keep pulling me back in. Some are legends who’ve been at it for decades, others are newer names doing something that just grabs me.

There’s no formula to how something ends up here. Sometimes it’s a guitar tone that stops me mid-scroll.

Sometimes it’s a live clip that gives me chills, or an album I’ve had on repeat for a week straight without meaning to. If it moves me, it earns a spot.
You’ll find a real mix — Canadian blues players who’ve been carrying the torch for years, jazz musicians pushing the genre somewhere new, and the occasional curve-ball artist who doesn’t fit neatly into either category but deserved a mention anyway. I’m not trying to build a definitive list of “the best,” just an honest one. This is what’s actually on my speakers right now.
I’ve been around music my whole life — playing drums, chasing down live shows, arguing about set-lists with anyone who’ll listen — and that’s really what this page is: the running tally of what’s caught my ear lately. Some picks stick around for months. Others get bumped the second something better comes along.
If you want the full story behind any of these artists, most have their own dedicated profile elsewhere on the site — this page is just the highlight reel. New blues and jazz favorites land here whenever something moves me, so it’s worth checking back every so often instead of treating this as a one-and-done list.

A lot of what shows up here started as a conversation — someone at a show, a comment on a post, a tip from a fellow musician who swears I need to hear this one band. That’s honestly the best way discoveries happen anyway. So if you’ve got a blues or jazz act you think belongs on this list, say so — I’m always looking for the next favorite.
